The current limit is 10 minions.

There was a time in the wee early days of Guild Wars when there was no limit.....oh those were the days.

I think there used to be no limit in the before-time, the long long ago.
But if they mean recently then there talking crazy the limit is i think 10 for a primary necro

Heres a new question on same subject :
Would 2 +1 death/20% allow an 11th minion if they both trigger? Or does having 2 just mean if the one doesn't trigger theres a 20% (or a scaled from the 80% left over chance) the other will?
Basically as thats not totaly clear:
Do the +1 att/20% chance stack?

I have no clue, But I've seen that example in some other games and the majority of the time, It just gives two 20% chances for a +1. n_n

I remember those heady days. The necromancer was nearly the ultimate PvE machine. You wouldn't do a mission without a MM or a monk. Before the minion nerf, before the SR nerf, before necros got down graded. Happy memories. Never thought I'd be one of those people, you know, talking like this, but the necromancer jst did that to me. Still my faveorite class, though my necro (my first EVER char) is nearing semi retirement, his primary place taken over by my warrior and ele. ButI digress. If you have 16 Death Magic you can have a maximum of 10 minions. If you got the necro blessing, and the +1 to every attribute thing from the New Year thingies, an you had your two +20%, you could probably get more.

I don't really want more. I mean, It'd be fun and chaotic, But I can barely keep six up. Much less 12. I just wanted to know what everyone was talking about. :]

You can get 10 at 16 and 17 Death Magic [DM], anything less, is well less than 10. You can get 11 at 18 DM. You could get 18 DM by
getting the blessing from Grenth when you have favor, then getting the +1/20 bonus. There is also a minor glitch where DM is not involved...Not sure if its still around, but in the last two missions of Factions, you could get 10 minions+the celestial minion, making a grand total of 11 at 16 DM, then add in the extra minion you get for DM 18, and you get 12 minions. Not like the 92 minions I used to manage, lol, but its a start.

if you get the bonuses from the +1/20% chance items, the second its done casting, the 11th minion will dye as you only have that extra +1 attribute for the time that the spell is cast. once the spell is cast, your attribute will go back down to 17 (assuming you have a blessing) so it will dye.

now if you bump up your attributes using golden eggs, lunar fortunes, and/or blessings, you can probably get 11 since your attribute will stay at 18.

Yups as Enko points out the +1 chance only exists while ur casting that speel as soon as u finish that attribue drops back to normal and so you minion number will drop also. You can boost it perminetly by various means as mentioned above.

The +1 Death is stackable (if u have more than 1 20% chance of it) but only for the duration of that skill so ud get a higher lvl minion and ud still lose another one. (ive noticed the weakest or lowest hp minion is normally the one that dies)
